Linux kernel version

In terminal:

$ uname -a  (prints all information)


$ uname -r (prints the kernel release)

$ uname -v (prints the kernel version)

$ uname -o (prints the operating system)

$ uname -m (prints the machine 32bit or 64bit)

$ uname -n (prints the hostname)

$ uname -srv (prints the kernel name, release, version)
-s, --kernel-name
print the kernel name
-r, --kernel-release
print the kernel release
-v, --kernel-version
print the kernel version

2.6.37.1
2 = Kernel version
6 = Major revision
37 = Minor revision
1 = Bug or security fixes
